4th June - Election day

You had your say!

And what a message you sent! Although there were only 3 UKIP candidates for the County Council elections, each campaigned hard and was rewarded with some of the best ever results for our party. Thank you for your faith and support.

Bromsgrove branch committee members who stood for the Worcestershire County Council seats:

Peter McHugh        for    Alvechurch polled 626 votes, achieving 2nd place to Cllr. George Lord (Con.)

Steven Morson       for    Bromsgrove East polled 603 votes, achieving 3rd place behind Emma Moffett (Con. - winner) and Janet King (Lib. Dem.) candidates

George Flynn         for    Woodvale polled 774 votes, and achieved 2nd place after Sheila Blagg (Con.)

If you think the latest scandal over MPs expenses is an outrage - it's actually very small in comparison to the E.U! What we find so outrageous is that our continued membership of the European Union costs us £40 million per DAY, because along with Germany, Holland and France, we fund the whole of it - all 27 countries! Our parliament in Westminster costs about £170 million per year - that's less than 4 days cost of being in the E.U!

The row over expenses of Members of the Westminster parliament is of course, an absolute disgrace, brought about by an appallingly lax system, and people more than ready to exploit it for all it's worth. It is clear that service of the public was NEVER in their plan when some members were returned to the Commons - so why reward them by sending them back? The present Labour government's five-year term of office ends on 4th May 2010, so a general election must be held before then. In UKIP Bromsgrove, we are ready WHENEVER it is called.

Our popular, hard-working Member of the European parliament, Mike Nattrass, continues to inform us of the insanity that masquerades as democracy in Brussels and Strasbourg. Watch Mike in a Churchillian frame of mind here!:-

Thanks to the voters of the West Midlands, both Mike Nattrass, MEP FRICS and Nikki Sinclaire were returned to the European parliament, in results that shook the political world on Sunday 7th June 2009. In the West Midlands, we increased the UKIP vote by a larger percentage than the rest of the UK. UKIP is the second biggest party in European politics in the country and we have 13 MEPs; why aren't the media reporting this?

Now that the County Council and European elections are over, the hardest campaign of all begins. Bromsgrove needs an industrious, selfless servant of the people who will take every opportunity to service and promote the constituency of Bromsgrove. That person is Steven Morson, UKIP's Prospective Parliamentary Candidate. NO other political parties tell you of the nonsense and damage done to our democracy.

Only UKIP tells you the truth on the European Union, and what we will do when we leave it.
